People use it to settle pick-up-game drafts, run trivia nights, find a drawing prompt, or drill player recognition. The five filters let you narrow the pool before you roll, so you can land on exactly the kind of player you need.
What the filters actually change
You can filter by team (all 30 are represented), conference, position, or height band — under 6'3", 6'3"–6'7", 6'8"–6'11", or 7'0" and up. A Stars only toggle trims the pool to household names if you want results a casual fan will recognize. Stack filters to get, say, a tall Western Conference center, or leave everything open and let the full roster surprise you.
How deep the roster goes
The pool spans guards, forwards, and centers across all 30 teams, so two-way players and end-of-bench names are just as likely to surface as rotation staples. The tallest player in the pool is Jamarion Sharp at 7'5"; the shortest is Braden Smith at 5'10". The oldest is LeBron James at 41; the youngest is Cameron Boozer at 19. That range means the generator is a genuine test of NBA roster knowledge, not just a highlight-reel name machine.
Sharing and using a result
Once a player appears, three options follow: launch the guessing game with only that player, copy a shareable link, or re-roll immediately with R. The shareable link is handy for sending a friend a specific challenge without revealing the answer up front.

"Most random NBA player" usually means a name that makes people squint — a two-way contract, a 10-day deal, the twelfth man who only appears in garbage time.
